Remnant: Down through the Ages to the End

And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun,

(clothed with the righteousness of Christ)

and the moon under her feet,

(as the moon reflects the sunlight in the dark of night--so too are God's people to reflect His light in this darkened world)
and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: (the promise of the prophecies given to the 12 tribes of ancient Israel and passed on through Christendom founded by the 12 apostles)

And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

(birth of Christ, the promised Messiah, among His people)

War in Heaven Spreads to Earth

**And there appeared another wonder in heaven;

and behold a great red dragon,

(Lucifer)
And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth:

(the third of the angelic host that followed Lucifer in his Rebellion)

And there was war in heaven:

Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The Crux of the War

**and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne.

(attempt by Lucifer to destroy the Christ from the moment of His advent on earth in the manger)
And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

(Satan's war down from Eden to the cross against God's people in the earth---an attempt to prevent the advent of Christ on earth)

The 1260 Days (Years)

**And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is
nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

(the 1260 years of God's people--many in hiding for fear of prosecution)

And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

(The flood of papal persecutions, inquisitions and the counter Reformation during the 1260 years)

Some Relief

**And they that understand among the people shall instruct
many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

(the Reformation -- the ones who were to "understand" and "instruct" -- brought some relief -- yet some were slain)

The Lull--Nearing the End

**And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her
mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

(fleeing across the oceans to the New World seeking Religious Freedom)

Persecution Returns

[The Protector Becomes The Persecutor]

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him,

and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

(The U.S., the Land Beast that rose up out of the earth, gets the world to exercise the Mark of the Sea Beast via persecution.

[The first beast had arisen from the Sea, the one that morphed into Papal Rome. Waters represent large, populated area: The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.]

So it would be logical to conclude that this beast out of the earth, hence dry land, would arise from a less populated area to begin with. Notice it also has gentle lamblike qualities yet is powerful like a dragon.

Only one nation on earth fits ALL these characteristics, timeframe and geography--the one that had originally given the world protection from religious persecution--now becomes the persecutor for the Sea Beasts revival)

CHARCATERISTICS OF END TIME REMNANT

And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed,
-1- which keep the commandments of God,
-2- and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
